SettingNew Pretty Town- Tally goes there through all parts of the bookIt is a place made for fun. It has mansions, skyscrapers, amuesment park rides, ice rinks, fireworks and parties. It is a place where people sleep during the day and party hard at night. The town has crazy parties with evn crazy partiers. They drink and preatty much do whatever they want. The town has an exciting feeling that if you lived there you would want to party all night too.Tally's Room (in the dorms) Beginning of the book and briefly at the end.It is alive. It talks to her and tell her when to go to bed and things like that as long as she wears her interface ring. It also gives her almost anything that she wants out of the wall. She can also watch movies and work on what she wants her pretty self to look like. It's very organized with high securtiy(or so the teachers think) River Tally goes up and down it many timesThe river is calm in most places but when you get to the rapids, it is like a stampede the way that its frothing waters rip along as fast as they can. The cool, cold water rushes fast down the rapids splashing you in the face. The sound of rushing water fills your ears and you just want to jump in (in only the water wasen't going so fast!)Rusty Ruins The Place Where People Like Us Used to LiveIt the shells of a bunch of old buildings and cars out inthe wilderness that are the remains of a destroyed city. It also has a roller coaster that Tally and Shay go hoverboarding on. Everthing is rusty and and old remains of cars and garbage are still there rotting.
Smoke Lives There in the Middle It is a place people escape to if they don't want to have the operation. It is a little community that Dr. Cable wants destroyed. It is hidden in a valley and is home to about 200 people. The book doesn't tell us exactly what time the book takes place, but you can tell it's very far in the future. The New Pretty Town makes you feel all excited and wild. The Dorms make you anxious and bored. The Rusty Ruins feels creepy and reminiscent of the past. The Smoke is hopeful. However, the whole sense of the book is an eerie, futuristic one. It makes you question the future. How would you like to look foward to a future where you don't have a mind.
If you read between the lines, New Pretty Town, Rusty Ruins, and the Smoke, in a way, really gives you the chills....
